Heilbad Heiligenstadt - local district Günterode

Günterode is located north of Heiligenstadt.

Here we also have a marketplace which is typical of the Eichsfeld. The village is a "clearing-village".

In this village we can find two ponds.

Remarkable is the altar of the church "St. Georg" (built in 1713) in gothic style.

The village was first mentioned in 1146 in a document of the archbishop Heinrich I. from Mainz.

A popular excursion place is also the little gliding field near the village.
